From the recording Horizontes

4. Tonada Azul y Verde 6:49
Compsed by John Santos
Arranged by Marco Díaz, John Santos

sambambiente

This composition is built on over 20 percussion tracks that were originally recorded in 2003 on a piece called Tonada de Ordeño for the phenomenal Venezuelan vocalist María Márquez. The basic Sextet tracks were added in 2018. It is converted here into a bluesy ode to nature. Azul y verde (blue & green) are nature's most common colors. We celebrate them in all their splendor as we add our voices to the multitudes calling for an end to the destruction of our planet (in the supposed name of progress).
For the undisputed Queen of Brazilian culture in the San Francisco Bay Area, Conceiçao Damasceno (RIP), and all indigenous peoples who defend the land, air and water.
